| I really wanted to like this book because I grew up watching Roland Martin. Don't get me wrong -- it does contain some useful information, but like the pictures, it's 20+ years old. If you want to learn more about MODERN tackle and techniques, this is NOT the book for you. |

This is an education on bass fishing.
I find myself returning to this fishing book again and again. You won't find 10 pages on tying knots, neither will you find tricks you'll forget when on the water.
What you will find are 101 solid topics on fishing from a teacher. Roland isn't trying to impress you, he's just teaching you in a well written book how to fish certain situations and certain lures. For example, there are 45 pages on spinnerbaits, and its good reading.
This is the book I reach for when I think about my favorite lake and how I will fish it anew in springtime with new techniques or refined methods.

| I was expecting much less than what i got with this book. I thought it would be more like Bill Dance's 101 bass fishing secrets, but it is written more like a bass fishing encyclopedia. Good buy. |

| I will not talk about all of the information on bass fishing knowledge that is in this book, because we already know that! I want to talk about the history in this book of the early days of B.A.S.S. and other pro's and big named people in the sport. I really liked the story of how Bill Dance helped Roland hook and land his wife, that was a funny story. You will enjoy this book in so many ways! |
